President holds luncheon for the members of the Special Protective Service

President David Granger last Saturday hosted an annual luncheon for the members of the Special Protective Service (SPS) of the Guyana Police Force. The SPS is responsible for the safety and protection of the President, the Prime Minister and their families.

In brief remarks to the staff, President Granger thanked them for their hard work and service throughout the year. He reminded that the SPS comprises persons who have demonstrated an additional level of commitment and adherence to the standards of the Police Force.

“Every person of the SPS should be honest in the conduct of their day-to-day duties. You must have a sense of loyalty to the country and you must be efficient. You must be continuously educated to learn new things. You must have a sense of responsibility,” he said. The President also presented tokens of appreciation to ranks who completed their studies at the University of Guyana as well as those who received promotions.
