A 32-year-old labourer is now dead after he was repeatedly stabbed with a Bar-B-Que fork – allegedly by a fisherman.
Dead is Balchan ‘Avai’ Baicha who had no fixed place of abode. Baichan was allegedly killed by a 67-year-old fisherman of Logwood Squatting Area, Emnore, North, East Coast Demerara (ECD).
According to the Guyana Police Force, the incident occurred at the suspect’s residence on Sunday around 13:20hrs. An investigation revealed that at about 12:00hrs on Sunday, the fisherman was on his veranda imbibing when Baichan entered his (suspect) yard. The fisherman reportedly asked Baichan to leave his premises and when he didn’t, an argument ensued. It was then that the suspect reportedly armed himself with a bar-b-que fork and stabbed Baichan in the neck.
Balchan was escorted to the Nabaclis Health Centre, where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
The body was subsequently taken to Jerrick’s Funeral Home where it awaits a post-mortem. The suspect is in custody assisting with the investigation.
