A 24-year-old man, was, on Friday, November 15, 2019, sentenced to prison by Magistrate Dylon Bess, at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court.

Kevin Christopher admitted to the allegations which stated that, on November 14, 2019, at Houston Housing Scheme, he stole $10,000 cash from his mother, Michelle Balkaran.

According to the statements presented by Police Prosecutor Sanj Singh, on the day in question, the virtual complaint secured her purse with the said cash and left her home to visit a relative.

Upon her return, she saw her son removing the money from her purse. She then reported the matter to the police and Christopher was arrested and charged.
Christopher told the court that, on the said day, he was looking for his clothes when he stumbled upon the money and decided to take it.

Magistrate Bess, after listening to the statements, sentenced the young man to six months in prison.
