A 17-year-old boy drowned on Friday while swimming in a pool at Puruni in the Cuyuni/Mazaruni.

Dead is Keion Paul called ‘Boyce.’

Reports are that around 1600hrs today, the teen and two other persons went to swim at the old mining pit and while there, the lad went under the water. According to reports, the teen’s friends could not reach him in time. A search party was immediately launched for his body.

The teen lived with his parents on their mining operation in the area.

Investigations into the incident are ongoing.
