EBSC camp a huge success – Yadram

A NUMBER of aspiring cricketers from in and around the village of Enterprise on the East Coast of Demerara, yesterday completed the Enterprise Busta Sports Club and Yadram Coaching Programme cricket camp at Enterprise Community Centre. Chief facilitator and coach, Latchman Yadram, spoke of its success.

The coach added, during his presentation at the closing ceremony, that the camp achieved its objectives with 34 aspiring male and female cricketers participating.

They were exposed to an elaborate programme, aimed at developing every participant’s cricketing talent along with fitness.

“The youths were exposed to basics of the game and were also given lectures on the importance of discipline, leadership, injuries and treatment and nutrition, among other topics,” Yadram said.

Meanwhile, secretary of the East Coast Cricket Committee, Jitlal Jowharilall, and vice-president of Enterprise Busta Sports Club, Hansraj Sookdeo, both spoke at length, reminding the youngsters to be disciplined at all times and to put into practice what they would have learnt.

“This is just the start but if you want to make cricket a career, you must be disciplined and fit at all times,” Jitlall said.

Sookdeo told them, “The sport has evolved over the years, hence you the participants will need to stay on top of your game whenever the opportunity is given,”

Prior to the conclusion of the ceremony, each participant received a certificate of participation. Three special prizes were also handed out to Tilliea Madramootoo (Most Disciplined Student), Indira Madramootoo (Most Supportive Perent), and Nankumar Tularam (Best Attendance).

Further Yadram extended gratitude to Enterprise Busta Sports Club, Enterprise Legends Softball Club, Sheik Mohamed of Star Sports, Prem of Superbet, Yogeeta Balkishun, Guyana and former Windies Under-19 player Bhaskar Yadram, Amenda Persaud, Bishnu Mangru, Shreeanand Mohan and M.A. Ali for their input.
