RAYMOND Perez continued his dominant form for the Demerara Cricket Club (DCC) with another huge century in their latest clash of GCA/Noble House Seafoods Second Division two-day cricket tournament, which started yesterday against Police Sports Club, at the historic Queenstown ground.

Also on Saturday, Amir Khan spun his way to six wickets, which propelled Everest Cricket Club (ECC) to a slim first-innings lead against the Transport Sports Club (TSC) at their home ground.

Meanwhile, home team Malteenoes Sports Club (MSC) are five wickets away from an overall victory, after they dominated the visiting Ace Warriors on day one of their clash, due to a century from Jeremiah Scott.

Also in control are University of Guyana cricketers against Third Class.

DOMINANT PEREZ
Perez, who slammed 192 last Saturday against Diplomats Sports Club, repeated the stroke play yesterday against the lawmen’s bowlers. When the dust had settled, he had belted seven sixes and 18 fours for a top score of 159, which pushed the home team to 340-9 declared.

Jerimiah Scott scored 126 for Malteenoes.

For the fifth wicket, Perez and Nkosi Beaton put together 107 runs, with the latter hitting seven fours and a six in a score of 53.

  1. George finished not out on 32 (5×4), while opener Sachin Singh (25) and middle order batsman Alphius Bookie (22) also contributed to the total.

Pernell London, who had Perez stumped, led Police’s attack with 3-49 from 10 overs, while opening bowlers Quinten Sampson and Darsan La Rose picked up two wickets each.

Police closed at 98-2 in their first innings after 13 overs. Andrew Lyght Jr slammed four fours and three sixes in a score of 38. When play continues today, Kemol Savory would look to build on his 33 runs. His partner at the crease is London on four.

At the Transport ground, the home team were restricted to 170 after ECC all-rounder Amir Khan spun his way to 6-24 from 8.4 overs.

The leg-spinner walked through the middle order. Support came from David Williams, who picked up 3-28, including the prized wicket of opener Devon Nandan, who had struck four fours and three sixes in a top score of 61.

In reply, ECC reached 179-8 from 49 overs by the close of play.

Richie Looknauth led the attack with 46 (5×4, 2×6), while Khan added 41 (2×4, 2×6).

At the Malteenoes ground, Ace Warriors were routed for 64, although they had a first-wicket stand of 34 between Raul Enmore (33) and Murtland Ward (14).

Nichosie Barker led the attack for the home team with 3-3 from three overs, while Delon Dalrymple took 2-11.

In reply, Jerimiah Scott slammed 126 (14×4, 5×6) to lead the home side to 246, before they were bowled out in 36.4 overs.  Shaquille Moseley added 78 (8×4, 1×6).

Baksh led the attack with four wickets for 55 while R. Aaron took 3-28.

Ace Warriors in reply were on 48-5 at the close of play. Barker and Dalrymple were again doing damage with the ball.

UG LEADS
Meanwhile, University of Guyana (UG)  batted their way to a first-innings lead over Third Class at the MYO ground. UG scored 236 (M. Stephenson 69; T. George 6-40) before they bowled out Third Class for 72.  Dwayne Dotson who got three wickets in one over, finished with 5-20 from 5.5 overs, while Devon Paul took 5-40 from nine for the Turkeyen team.

At the close of play, the University cricketers were on 57-0, batting a second time. (Faizool Deo)
