TWO armed bandits discharged several rounds as they tried to rob Bob and Sons Grocery Store at 13 Strand, New Amsterdam around 20:00hrs on Monday.

Reports revealed that the proprietor, Mazar Khan, and his staff had already closed the business and were engaged in light conversation outside the rented building when the two masked young men approached, shouting ” Nobody move!’

Soon after, they discharged several rounds, one of which struck the outer wall of the building. The workers ran for safety and, during this time, the armed men attempted to gained entry into the proprietor’s car to steal a bag containing cash.

The bandits reportedly used the proprietor’s hands to crack the windscreen of the vehicle. A blood trail was visible at the scene. The proprietor managed to escape from them.

An employee, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said the men were initially seen standing at the corner of the dark Strand and Chapel Street junction before pouncing on the unsuspecting employees.
