A SUSPECTED drug ‘pusher’ is expected to be charged shortly, after he was seen throwing away what looked like a bottle just outside a liquor restaurant at Waterloo Village, West Coast Berbice on Saturday night.
Just before 23:00hrs on the day in question, the police were on mobile patrol along the West Berbice Public Road when the suspect, on seeing the police vehicle, threw away a small vial he had in his hands and ran into the said liquor bar.
One of the ranks gave chase, and when the suspect was apprehended and taken back to where he was seen disposing of the vial, a small transparent glass bottle was found not too far away.
When the bottle was opened, it was found to contain a quantity of small, whitish rock-like substance suspected to be cocaine.
The suspect, after being cautioned about the seriousness of the offence, this being that he was in possession of a narcotic for the purpose of trafficking, was arrested and taken to the Fort Wellington Police Station with the suspected cocaine, which weighed 12 grams.
He is expected to be charged shortly.
