Cyclist critical after struck down by soldier

A 57-year-old pedal cyclist, Ramlackhan (only name given) was struck down by a vehicle driven by a corporal of the Guyana Defence Force (GDF) on Saturday.

According to a police report, Ramlackhan of Mon Repos, was hit while riding along the Railway Embankment Road at Vryheid’s Lust, East Coast Demerara (ECD).
It was reported that the man was towing someone who sustained lacerations to his right arm. The persons did not seek medical attention.

Ramlackhan on the other hand remains in a critical condition at the Georgetown Public Hospital.
The police have since conducted a breathalyzer test on the driver, and it was found that his alcohol level was above the legal limit.
