–at the Bartica Regatta
BARTICA Regatta 2019 was undoubtedly a resounding success, with a total of four nights of shows, back-to-back, in addition to the other activities.
Last weekend, the town came alive with thousands of patrons attending events coordinated by the Bartica Town Council and Regatta Committee.
On Friday evening, the Christian community had their time with a grand gospel explosion at the Bartica Community Centre which featured gospel artistes from across Guyana, with the main act being Saiku Andrews.
Then on Saturday evening, Platinum Sqaure was packed to capacity with people who went to see Demarco in action.
But it was Sunday evening that had the buzz for the weekend. Not even the crowd on Monday night for Soca Queen, Destra, and chutney sensation, KI, could have compared to the turnout on Sunday night.
The Bartica beach was bursting at its seams, y, as patrons were entertained by some of Guyana’s leading artistes, among them
Jumo, Kwasi Ace, Big Red, Steven Ramphal and Brandon Harding. And they all put on quite a show, and their audience evidently enjoyed it.
The beach, the steps, the pavilion, every clear space around the stage area were packed with people, who were jumping, dancing and screaming in support of Guyana’s local talent.
The show was hosted by local comedian, Chow Pow, who constantly acknowledged the hard work that artistes in our country put in, with not enough credit for what they do.
But the people of Bartica certainly appreciated the energy, and showed much love as the artistes did their thing.
‘The Buzz Magazine’ spoke with some of the patrons, who expressed much gratitude to organisers who designated a night specifically to celebrate the local talent.
The people were happy that they could have enjoyed a night with all things Guyanese.
