TWO soldiers have been given the opportunity to own their own homes following the first draw of a raffle by the Guyana Defence Force (GDF) Credit Union.

The construction of the homes is being done under a developer’s agreement, in collaboration with the Central Housing and Planning Authority (CHPA).

The two soldiers, Lance Corporal Damion Thomas and Able Rating Warren Prince, of the 21 Artillery Company and Coast Guard, respectively were among a list of soldiers who met the criteria for selection and their names were pulled at the raffle draw at Base Camp Stephenson, recently.

The soldiers had to qualify for homeownership under the regulations of the CHPA.

The construction projects are being provided by the GDF Engineer Corps. Troops of the Construction Company of the Fourth Engineer Battalion, who possess a range of construction skills, have engaged in the actual erection of the buildings.

Chief-of-Staff, Brigadier West and a corps of senior officers visited the buildings.
