An action packed day of racing is anticipated at Rising Sun.

THE start of the 2019 Triple Crown Horse Race series, organised by Jumbo Jet Thoroughbred Racing Committee, will get on the way from noon today at the Rising Sun Turf Club, West Coast Berbice.

Coordinator Nasrudeen Mohamed confirmed to Chronicle Sport yesterday that all arrangements are in place for today’s Race Meet. Over 100 horses have been registered for what is being dubbed another day of top-notch racing. Among those registered are a number of foreign horses.

It is estimated that over $20M will be at stake for the three legs inclusive of cash, trophies and other memorabilia from gate prizes.

For today’s meet, the feature C Class and Lower race will attract a total prize purse of almost $2M with the winner pocketing $1M. The winner of the Three-year-old Guyana-bred race will pocket $400 000, F Class winner $350 000, H Class $300 000, I Class $250 000, J Clas; $230 000, K Class; $220,000, L Class; $200,000, L Class and Lower $140 000.
The day’s event will be run under the auspices of the Guyana Horse Racing Authority (GHRA) and therefore owners, groomsmen and trainers were asked to have their animals properly registered before today. Further, if this requirement is not met horses will not be allowed to participate in the day’s proceedings.

On the other hand, outstanding individual performers including jockeys, trainer and stables will be presented with accolades, compliments of Ramesh Sunich of Trophy Stall, Bourda Market.

The second leg will take place on March 24 at Port Mourant Turf Club on the Corentyne, while the final leg will take place on April 21 at the same venue.
The first Triple Crown was officially launched last year, but was restricted to one event due to the inclement weather.
