Nine women rescued in TIP crackdown in Region Two

NINE females, presumed to be working as sex workers in various bars in Region Two, were rescued Saturday night during a Trafficking in Persons (TIP) raid conducted by the police and a Ministerial Task Force TIP team from Georgetown.

The raid commenced at 22:00hours at Suddie and at Keron’s Bar, three victims, a 21 year old; a resident of Onderneeming and a Venezuelan were nabbed.

At La Cabana Bar, located at Henrietta, two females were nabbed, one of them also a Venezuelan, while at the popular night club `Sowiya’ at Anna Regina, two females, a 19 year old and another Venezuelan were arrested.

And,at Toll Gate Bar, at Henrietta, two teenagers who were working as waitresses were taken into custody.

The police are continuing their investigations and charges are expected to be laid shortly.
