THE Georgetown Cricket Association (GCA) has named a Select XI to face the Georgetown Cricket Club (GCC) in a Friends of Cricket U-17 50-over presentation clash today.

The game, which is scheduled for the GCC ground, Bourda, will see the U-17 champs do battle against some outstanding junior players.

The team will be captained by National U-17 cricketer Niron Bissu and includes a mixture of cricketers from several clubs in the city.  Among the names are 11-year-old leg-spinner Riyad Latif, who has bowled the Transport Sports Club to two consecutive wins in the GCA Noble House Seafoods U-19 Generation Next competition and his all-rounder teammate, Jeffrey Blair, who struck a century batting at number 10 in his last match.

The Select XI, which will be coached by Kevin Ross and managed by Shaun Massiah, also includes Mitra Dhanraj, Alvin Mohabir, Orlando Giddings, Krsna Singh, Jonathan Vanlange, Daveannand khemraj, Dillon Ramsaroop, Gustavas Hutson, Matthew Jupiter, Inderjeet Nanan, DeAndre Linton and Marlon Bole.

Meanwhile the U-19 competition will continue at three different venues across the capital city today.

At Gandhi Youth Organisation (GYO) ground, the home team will play GNIC, Demerara Cricket Club (DCC) will host Queen’s College and Everest Cricket team will travel to the Malteenoes Sports Club to play the home team.

Tomorrow the competition continues with GNIC battling against Transport Sports Club.

All the U-19 and U-17 clashes are scheduled for a 09:30hts start.
