HEAD coach of the Kings University Eagles Naeem Haque is confident that Guyana’s national champion Narayan Ramdhani can make it to the Canadian Collegiate Athletic Association championships.

The 20-year-old, who has been a star player for his university team, with three wins in the men singles competition seems almost set to take the Eagles to the next level, but first he has to get them past three other schools in the Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference (ACAC) championships, which is set for this weekend.

Although the Eagles are without a title, Haque is confident that Ramdhani can be their saviour, in at least the individual battle.

He told a local writer that the team is a different team than the one that went to nationals in 2018.

“Last year I had a mixed team that went to provincials and nationals and they are not back. I have a new whole team. But I have one guy, Narayan Ramdhani (1st year, Business, Georgetown, Guyana / Marian Academy) who has done really well in the ACAC.  I am pretty sure he will be going to nationals. He has only lost one match this year and that was at Olds and he was pretty sick then. He is 3-1 in men’s singles. Things are looking up for us.”

All games will be played at Ralph King Athletic Centre.
