THE University of Guyana cricket team will return to action today after their Georgetown Cricket Association (GCA) NBS Second Division 40-over cricket games were postponed last weekend due to a bomb scare that forced a campus lockdown.
Today, the Campus team will play home team Everest Cricket Club, while tomorrow they will tackle Malteenoes Sports Club at the DCC ground in two of their last three preliminary games.
Despite the lockdown, captain Dennis Heywood feels that his side are ready for their matches.
FOCUS ON GETTING THE WIN
“The lockdown situation has not affected us much cricket-wise, because we train off campus at GNIC, so our training has been as normal and the guys are just focussed on getting the wins this weekend.”
Heywood said that his players are just focussed on winning both of their games and winning them big in order to get a chance to advance in the tough Zone A.
Getting past Everest, who have put together a string of recent wins, led by their in-form skipper Dwayne Adams, will be no easy task; neither will their battle against the strong MSC team.
