A SEVENTEEN-year-old boy was, on Monday, February 04, 2019, charged for wounding his 16-year-old girlfriend who is currently six months pregnant.
The boy appeared before Children’s Court Magistrate, Annette Singh, at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court and denied the allegation.
Particulars of the charge alleged that on January 30, 2019, at East Ruimveldt, the boy wounded his 16-year-old girlfriend.
Magistrate Singh released the 17-year-old on self-bail and adjourned the matter until February 22, 2019.
According to reports, on the day in question, the teens were involved in an argument. It is alleged that the boy armed himself with a sharp object and stabbed his pregnant girlfriend in her head. The pregnant teen was rushed to the hospital and was treated.
Speaking with the Guyana Chronicle, the victim’s father expressed that he was not satisfied with the manner in which his daughter’s case was being handled.
The father stressed that he wished for the matter to be heard in another court.
