AFTER suffering a devastating loss in the previous round, the Guyana Jaguars will be looking to kick-start the second half of the West Indies four-day championship season with a victory.
The four-time defending champions who lost their fifth round game against the Leeward Islands Hurricanes at Providence last weekned, will square off with the Trinidad and Tobago Red Force at Queen’s Park Oval, in Port of Spain, starting today.
Judging by results of recent, this match is likely to have a winner, as all of the previous five contests between the two sides have ended in outright results.

The Jaguars have won all five of the matches and this will be good news, along with the return to the line-up of the West Indies trio of Vishaul Singh, Raymon Reifer and Chandrapaul Hemraj after their CWI President’s XI duties against the touring England side. They replaced Windies ‘A’ speedster Keon Joseph, opener Trevon Griffith and the injured leg-spinner Devendra Bishoo.
The remainder of the squad reads: Tagenarine Chanderpaul, Leon Johnson (captain), Anthony Bramble, Sherfane Rutherford, Keemo Paul, Romario Shepherd, Clinton Pestano, Veerasammy Permaul, Christopher Barnwell and Gudakesh Motie.
After five rounds, Jaguars are 85.6 points, 25.8 points more than the second place Hurricanes.
Barbados Pride are in third position with 49.6 points while Windward Islands Volcanoes are in fourth position with 48.4 points. The Red Force are in fifth position with 33 points while the bottom-place team, Jamaica Scorpions, have 32.6 points.
Meanwhile, twin-island franchise has made some changes with former West Indies fast bowler, Mervyn Dillon, replacing Kelvin Williams as coach of the T&T Red Force after their string of three losses in four matches.
The Red Force lies second to last on the six-team championship, and is expected to be strengthened with the inclusion of senior cricketers including Ravi Rampaul, Rayad Emrit, and Lendl Simmons.
