THE powerlifting community continues to show faith in Ed Caesar as he was returned to the presidency of the Guyana Amateur Powerlifting Federation (GAPLF) at the federation’s Annual General Meeting (AGM) which was held yesterday at the National Racquet Centre in Woolford Avenue.
Meanwhile, decorated female powerlifter Nadina Taharally was elected as vice-president with Colin Austin taking up the post of treasurer.

Andrea Smith was returned as the General Secretary while record-breaking powerlifter Runita White will continue as the Public Relations Officer (PRO)/Organising secretary. David Gomes, Martin Webster and Erwyn Smith are all committee members.
At the forum, the president, general secretary and treasurer of the outgoing executive presented their annual reports to the federation members present.
The GAPLF’s 2019 Executive Committee is expected to kick-start its calendar year by hosting the first of four annual competitions – the “Novices and Juniors Powerlifting Championships on February 3. This event will be held at the St Stanislaus College auditorium, commencing at 10:00hrs.
Pre-sold tickets for this event cost $1 000 or $1 500 at the gate.
