A 40-year-old station street, Kitty taxi driver, was, on Tuesday, January 15, 2019, charged for sexually assaulting an 11-year-old female passenger in his motorcar.
Rishi Seepersaud appeared before Principal Magistrate Judy Latchman at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court where the matter was heard in camera.

Particulars of the charge read that, on September 8, 2018, at McDoom, East Bank Demerara, he engaged in a sexual act with a child under the age of 16. He pleaded not guilty to the charge and was released on $100,000 bail. The matter was adjourned until January 28, 2019.

According to reports, the 11-year-old was a passenger in Seepersaud’s motorcar and was seated in the back seat. It is alleged that Seepersaud stopped the motorcar and touched the child’s private parts. He then dropped her off at her destination. The child confided in her mother and the matter was reported to the police.
