A FEMALE has been remanded to prison by Magistrate Renita Singh on two counts of sexual assault committed on a 13-year-old girl.
The perpetrator of Patrick Dam, Mount Sinai, Region Six was not required to plead to the charges following her appearance at the Albion Magistrate’s Court.

Particulars of the offence stated that on December 24 and 25 last, the defendant took the minor to a Lot 56 Stanleytown, New Amsterdam home where she sexually fondled the child’s lips, breasts and vagina.

A similar act was committed at the New Amsterdam Basketball Court on January 2 and 3.
Reports reveal that the mother of the victim became concerned over a drastic change in the child’s behaviour.

The change was observed just over three years ago, after the victim visited the home of her step mother at Fort Ordinance Housing Scheme, East Canje.

It was at that at the location, while the child was just 10 years old, the stepmother, a member of the Neighbourhood Policing group, would allow her sister, the defendant, to sexually violate the then pre-teen. The father of the victim was unaware of the violation.
However, in recent times, the defendant is alleged to have been very controlling of the minor, and as a result, the victim’s mother sought professional help which resulted in the child narrating a detailed episode of the sexual assault.

The matter was reported to the police and charges were subsequently laid.
Meanwhile, the defendant is expected to return to the New Amsterdam Magistrate’s Court on January 31.
