TRINIDAD and Tobago’s Morvant Caledonia United, Brazil’s Roraima Galacticos, Team Guyana and the Georgetown All-Stars are the only unbeaten teams in the GFF/ExxonMobil International Futsal tournament, following their respective wins on Friday evening at Cliff Anderson Sports Hall.

The Roraima Galacticos are by far the most exciting team in the tournament and following their 11-2 win against a Trayon Bobb-led West Demerara All-Stars on opening night, fans were once again treated to some entertaining futsal by the Brazilians.
An East Coast Demerara Select team was the latest victim of the ‘samba-type’ futsal by the Brazilians, and though the likes of Dwain Jacobs showed some fight, the side went down 3-6 to an obvious superior Roraima Galacticos.

Romailson De Jesus, the side’s lead marksman so far in the tournament, netted a hat-trick (6th, 25th, 31st) on Friday evening to go along with the five scored in their first game. Raphael Lopes (3rd), Lucas Martins (29th) and Maxivon Carvalho (39th) were the other scorers.

For the East Coast unit, goals came from goalkeeper Alzaliel Davis (9th), Jacobs (24th) and Steven Dolphin (34th).
Meanwhile, Ryan Hackett netted a hat-trick (2nd, 17th, 22nd) to help the Georgetown All-Stars overcome Linden 7-0.

Adrian Aaron (12th), Hubert Pedro (30th, Kelvin Moore (31st) and Stephen McLean (40th) were the other goalscorers for Georgetown, while Linden slumped to their second defeat.
Morvant Caledonia United, the team owned and headed by former Golden Jaguars head coach Jamaal Shabazz, showed flashes of brilliance in their 5-0 win over ZV All-Stars of Suriname, with Kareem Perry (13th, 14th 35th) scoring a hat-trick, while Rondell Elexie (33rd) and Jomel Williams (18th) contributed for the win.

Meanwhile, in the final game of the evening, Team Guyana, despite playing with one man short in the second half, after Jermain Junior picked up his second yellow card, were able to hold off West Demerara 5-2.

Sheldon Shepherd scored the game’s first goal in the game, doing so in the 5th minute, while Andrew Murray doubled the lead in the 14th minute for Guyana.
However, Dion Terrence pulled one back in the 18th minute to begin the fightback for the ‘West Side’. Upon the resumption of the second half, Bobb levelled the scores 2-2 with his 24th minute goal.

Delroy Deane (29th) broke the deadlock for Guyana and Eusi Phillips (37th), along with King Solomon Austin (31st) eventually closed a hard-fought game for Guyana.
The tournament will wrap up tonight with the semi-finals and final.
