THE Trophy Stall’s 20 plus years of sponsorship of the Kennard’s Memorial Turf Club (KMTC) Boxing Day meet continued on Friday.
During a simple ceremony, proprietor, Ramesh Sunich handed over a number of trophies to president of the turf club, Justice Cecil Kennard.
The annual Boxing Day event has been one of the country’s traditions over the years and this year’s meet is being deemed the ‘biggest’ in recent years.
Kennard thanked the business entity for its continued support. Sunich, on the other hand, pointed out that the contribution is a way of giving back to the sporting fraternity.
The main event, which is the E and Lower will cover a distance of seven furlongs, with the top prize being $800 000.
Apart from the main event, there will be six other races, the first of which will gallop off at 12:30hrs at the Club’s Bush Lot Farm, Corentyne track.
They include the L-Non Earners 2018, Two-Year-Old Guyana-bred, H1 and Lower, L-Non Winners, Three-Year-Old Guyana-bred and L Class Open.
