RAEKWON Noel and Donna Carter captured medals for the Dorado Speed Swim Club on the opening night of the ASATT Invitational Club Swim Meet on Thursday evening in Trinidad.
Fourteen swimmers, aged eight to 15 years, are representing the Guyanese club at the four-day FINA-sanctioned event.
Noel, who swam in the 11-12 division, won silver in the 1500m freestyle with a time of 18:30:96. The youngster entered the event with a time of 20:10:06. Later in the evening, Noel finished fifth in the 50m backstroke in a time of 33.63s.
The Guyanese club’s other medal came in the Girls’ 13-14, 50-metre backstroke event, when Carter nabbed a bronze medal in a time of 35.79s. The 14-year-old entered the event with a previous best of 36.32s.
According to veteran coach Stephanie Fraser, all of the other swimmers on the opening night made personal bests (PB) in their events.
Ethan and Elliot Gonsalves, Monique Watson and Vladimir Woodroffe made PBs in the gruelling 200m butterfly, while Watson also swam the 400m Individual Medley.
