GARBAGE collection woes in Linden will be significantly alleviated now that the Linden Mayor and Town Council (LMTC) is in receipt of two spanking new compactor trucks gifted to the municipality by Bosai Minerals Group Guyana (BMGG).

The trucks were officially handed over by Bosai’s General Manager Eric Yu to Mayor of Linden Waneka Arrindell and Town Clerk Orleena Ombermulla, during a simple ceremony on Sunday. While the trucks came to Linden months ago during former Mayor Carwyn Holland’s tenure, as he was the one who had petitioned for same during a trip to China, Eric Yu said that it was only now it could have been handed over, as the paperwork had to be finalised. Yu said that Bosai has always been taking its corporate responsibility seriously and it is always gratifying to share in the development of Linden. Only last Saturday, the company awarded bursaries to the country’s and Region Ten’s top National Grade Six Assessment performers.

After receiving the keys and registrations of the trucks, Mayor Arrindell said that the trucks will assist greatly in the municipality’s effort to manage solid waste. “This truly will assist us greatly in alleviating the problem of solid waste management in our township, and we will make sure that what it is presented for is what it will be used for,” she said.
Holland had mentioned Bosai fulfilling its promise to him as one of his most noted accomplishments during his two-term tenure. He said that with the two new compactor trucks and the two that the Council also bought during his tenure, should enable the Council to master garbage collection and alleviate Lindeners from going into their pockets to pay a private company for garbage collection.

“It is my belief that Linden people deserve a break from all these bills and all these things that face us, Linden has been impoverished for so long, I believe no one in Linden should be paying for garbage collection once every hold their rates and taxes, once these things coming in, I believe we should provide a service to our community and I think we can become the first town to achieve this,” Holland said.

With the recently newly elected Council, residents have listed garbage collection as a priority in which the councillor should focus on.
