Main witness in Shaquille Grant case jailed for chain snatching

A 23-year-old man was on Wednesday sentenced to three years imprisonment after he was found guilty by Magistrate Dylan Bess for snatching a woman’s gold chain.

Romel Bollers, no address given, was charged for stealing a gold chain valued $60,000 along with a $20,000 pendant from Tonya Drakes on August 22, 2018, at the Agricola Public Road, East Bank Demerara. The unrepresented man pleaded not guilty to the charge.

However, after a few months on trial, Bollers was found guilty and sentenced to three years imprisonment by the magistrate. Bollers was one of the main witnesses in the case against former police constable, Terrence Wallace, who was accused of murdering Shaquille Grant, 17, at Caesar Street, Agricola, East Bank Demerara on September 11, 2012.
