THE Guyana Beverage Inc.-sponsored, Guyana Press Association (GPA) Inter-Media Domino tournament, will take place tomorrow at the Everest Cricket Club from 19:00hrs.
Under their VIVA Sparkling Flavoured Water brand, the company handed over a cheque for an undisclosed sum to the GPA yesterday at their Diamond, East Bank Demerara location for the tournament which is being held in conjunction with SannSports.
According to Rawle Toney, executive member of the GPA, the tournament is expected to be fun-filled and competitive, since a $100 000 cash prize is up for grabs for the winners and the teams finishing second and third. There will also be a ‘Queen Domino’ prize.
“The GPA believes that the domino tournament is another way to foster a closer working relationship among the Media houses, because, we hardly get a chance to socialise or better yet compete and have fun while doing so. The cash prize we’re offering is simply to encourage mass participation and to give them something to play for, apart from the trophies,” Toney said.
The GPA executive member thanked the Guyana Beverage Inc. for supporting the initiative and stated that he’s looking forward to more support from the company.
Raymond Gavinda, VIVA Sparkling Flavoured Water Brand Manager, expressed Guyana Beverage Inc.’s delight at being on board, and stated that his entity is looking forward to working closely with the GPA to pull off more activities, especially in the area of sports, that will see competition among the various media houses.
No entrance fee is required and while several teams have already registered through the GPA, Media houses can also enter on the day of the competition at the venue.
However, teams are being encouraged to register by sending their list to GPA via: guyanapressexecutive1954@gmail.com
