A 27-year-old miner was on Thursday remanded to prison for the murder of his girlfriend, a week after her decomposed body was discovered in a shallow grave at Eye Lash Backdam, in the North West District (NWD.)

Trevon Anthony Alleyne of South Sophia, Greater Georgetown appeared before Chief Magistrate Ann McLennan at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court and was not required to plea to the capital offence.

It is alleged that between October 10 and November 15, 2018 at Eye Lash Backdam, Alleyne murdered 23-year-old Patricia Davis.

The matter has been transferred to the Mathews Ridge Magistrate’s Court for hearing on February 5, 2019.

According to reports, Alleyne and Davis had shared a common-law relationship, and both resided on camp in the backdam.

The accused had allegedly confessed to the police to brutally beating Davis with a piece of wood in the course of an argument.

According to the suspect, when he woke up the next morning, he found her motionless, and in an apparent panic, proceeded to wrap her body in a length of plastic and a mosquito net and dumped it in a hastily dug shallow grave nearby.
