A FIVE-WICKET haul from Darius Andrews and an unbeaten half-century from Avinash Dookie led Sandpipers to a five-wicket win over North Soesdyke when the East Bank Demerara Cricket Association (EBDCA) Neville Sarjoo Memorial 40-over cricket competition continued last Sunday.

North Soesdyke batted first at the YMCA ground after winning the toss and reached 199 before they were bowled out in 30.3 overs. Several of the batsmen had starts including T. Primo, who smashed 41 (4×4, 1×6) and H. Carbaran, who smacked four fours in his score of 47.

Andrews did the damage with ball as he picked up five wickets for 18 runs from 5.3 overs with his off-break, while Rickford Samaroo assisted with 2-23 from five overs.
Dookie then led Sandpipers with the bat. He whacked 11 blistering sixes and four fours in an unbeaten score of 94, while Vinash Rampersaud added 31 unbeaten runs.
Primo led North Soesdyke’s bowling attack with 3-26.
