WE, the executives and members of the National Congress of Women, (NCW), would like to make it very clear that we are not at this time commenting on any of the issues that prompted this Commission of Inquiry (CoI) into the City Council.

However, we do want to comment on the totally unacceptable remarks to the mayor, and to ask if the chairman would have been ungracious and disrespectful to a male witness.
As we said at the beginning, the merits, or otherwise, of the issues to be examined are not our point of focus at this time. We protest most strongly the display of arrogance and hostility of the chairman. Surely, he could have been less crude in addressing the mayor and this apparent hostility, we feel, may cause his final decisions to be suspect and partial.
