THE six-race cycling programme, which was held as part of the Georgetown Mayor and City Council’s (M&CC) 175th Anniversary celebrations on Friday, was hailed a success by National cycling coach Hassan Mohamed.

Organised by Mohamed, the programme was held at the inner circuit of the National Park and featured participants of the National Sports Commission’s ‘Teach Them Young’ cycling course.

In the Veteran’s Open 10-lap race, Junior Niles took first place and top honours while Segun Hubbard and Ian Jackson had to settle for second and third respectively.

Meanwhile, in the Juveniles 10-Lap event, Donovan Fraser was the winner. He clocked 24 minutes 26.34 seconds.  Roy Wilson took second place while Steve Bhimsen settled for third.

Jamal Cappell was the top Mountain biker, taking that 10-lap race while Steve Bhimsen was the winner of the BMX Boys and Girls (12-14) race. Jaheme Henry and Brian DeNobrega were second and third in that order.

In the BMX Boys and Girls 6-9 event, Jose Rodrigues was the winner, while Javin Henry and Dwayne DeNobrega placed second and third respectively.

Officials from the M&CC were present at the meet and assisted with the distribution of trophies and prizes.
