A THIRD suspect is currently in police custody for the murder of 22-year-old Richmond Noel, who was stabbed and killed near Stabroek Market last month, and is assisting with investigations. This was revealed on Monday.

Timothy McKenzie, 21 and his father, 55-year-old James McKenzie, who were also charged for the murder of Noel made their second court appearance.

The McKenzies were charged with killing Noel on June 4 at the Stabroek Market area.
When the matter was recalled on Monday before Chief Magistrate Ann McLennan, Police Prosecutor Neville Jeffers told the court that investigators had arrested a third person in connection to the murder and requested a short adjournment date.
The Chief Magistrate adjourned the matter until July 18.

According to police reports, Richmond and Timothy were known to each other. However they had a misunderstanding after Timothy reportedly assaulted Noel’s sister.
It is alleged that on the day in question around 13:30 hrs in the vicinity of Cornhill Street, Stabroek, the two men had a heated confrontation during which, Timothy armed with a knife, approached the victim and reportedly dealt him a single stab to the left side of his chest.

Timothy, it is claimed, was given the knife to confront Noel.
The victim collapsed to the ground and was taken to the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation (GPHC) in an unconscious state where he was examined by a doctor. Noel died while undergoing treatment for the wound.
