Simple larceny earns him three months

A MAN was Wednesday sentenced to three months’ imprisonment on a simple larceny charge.
The charge alleged that on July 2, 2018, at Princes Street, Georgetown, Quincy Andrews robbed Maria Prince of one cellphone valued $17,000 and used personal violence on her.
The unemployed man, who resides at Norton Street pleaded guilty to the charge that was read out to him by the magistrate.

According to the facts given in court by the police prosecutor, the virtual complainant was walking along Princes Street when the suspect choked her from behind and pulled her handbag. As a result, the handle on the bag burst but the victim refused to hand over the bag containing her phone. The defendant managed to escape with the items.

He was later apprehended by a police officer and taken to the Brickdam Police Station.
Andrews was sentenced to three months’ imprisonment by Magistrate Fabayo Azore.
