A MINER died on Tuesday morning at Imbaimadai in the Cuyuni -Mazaruni area when a mining pit in which he was working caved in on him.

According to reports, Elmo Adams, whose age was not determined up to press time, died after he was covered by rubble which came crashing down on him. His co-workers frantically tried to save his life, but their efforts were in vain.

When they were finally able to pull his body from the rubble, the young man had stopped breathing, a witness reported. He was immediately transported to a police outpost in the area where he was seen by a doctor who certified him dead.

The GGMC and the Ministry of Natural Resources have reportedly been informed and are said to be conducting their own investigations.
