A 23-year old labourer of Mon Repos , East Coast Demerara (ECD) succumbed to a stab wound he sustained following an altercation with a businessman and his son on Saturday night.

Dead is Brayon Dewakar called “Blackie” of Lot 128, Mon Repos South, ECD.

Reports are that Dewakar was in the company of his friends at a bar-b-que around late on Saturday night when he was approached by the two assailants. During this time , the young man’s friends ran away from the scene .

Reports are that Dewakar friends returned to the scene where they found him in a nearby yard, motionless in a pool of blood.
The matter was reported to the police and the deceased was rushed to the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation (GPHC) where he was pronounced  dead on arrival.

According to reports , one of the suspects went to the Beterverwagting Police Station sometime after the incident and informed ranks there that Dewanker had robbed him and beat him up. At the time, the police ranks were not aware that he was involved in the murder of Dewanker and as such he  issued with a medical.

He left with the medical for the  GPHC where he was arrested by ranks who had earlier escorted Dewakar . A knife was recovered by the police in a trench close to the scene.

Police investigations are in progress.
