AMBASSADOR of the European Union to Guyana,Jernej Videti? last Monday hosted an inaugural breakfast meeting at his residence which saw in attendance representatives of businesses here with European ties.

The meeting, the first of its kind, saw an agreement being reached between Ambassador Videti? and the business representatives to engage in regular follow-ups, with the primary goal being to promote Guyanese-European business relations, and improve the exchange of information between European companies operating in Guyana.

Some of the discussions centered around the present status and the promising future of the local tourism sector, the key role of the private sector in the country’s economic development, and the importance of establishing synergies with the public sector to promote public-private partnerships.

The relevance of developing business management approaches, based on training activities, as a cross-cutting issued to strengthen the business sector was also considered.

Additionally, the idea of supporting different activities to promote and share with the Guyanese society, the European cuisine and culture, was also mentioned.
In order to enrich further meetings, all the participants concurred that it would be very useful to invite guests to speak about partnering on Guyanese and European business initiatives and relationships.
