GVF selection committee trims male squad

THE selection committee of the Guyana Volleyball Federation (GVF) has trimmed the squad currently in training for possible selection for the national team that will represent the Golden Arrowhead at an international tournament in a few months’ time.

According to a release, the Federation’s selection committee has reduced the male squad from 25 to 16 players who are still in training for the upcoming international tournament and will further reduce it after continued trials which will be held at venues both in Berbice and Demerara.

After weeks of training, the selectors met on Monday last, one day after trials were held at the National Gymnasium, Mandela Avenue, Georgetown, and selected the following players to continue preparations before the final team is announced.

The players selected are: Ronaldo Bobb, Trevlon McRae, Samuel Fraser, Ian Bagot, Shemroy Ross, Quacy Matherson, Joshua Jagmohan, Juan Calazado, Geno Carrel, Adriel Moore, Marcellious Hector, Kapil Samaroo, Akeem Bowling, Richard Samara and Devendra Latchman.

Another shortlisting will be done in the not too distant future.
Meanwhile, the male and female squads which were called out to the National Gymnasium for training session yesterday will once again participate in another such practice session today at the same venue.
