Owner of ‘veggie” restaurant remanded

THE owner of a popular vegetarian restaurant was on Friday remanded to prison, accused of trafficking in narcotics.

It was alleged that on April 4, 2018, at 57, Robb Street, Bourda, Prince Lamaison had in his possession 836 grams of cannabis for the purpose of trafficking.
According to the police facts presented in court, on the day in question, police ranks acted on information and went to the said location, where the defendant managed a restaurant named Isuns. The police made contact with the defendant who was locked in a room. When the room was searched, they found a black plastic bag on the floor next to a cupboard where the drug was found.

Under caution, Lamaison said: “Officer is me own.”
In court, the 44-year- old man pleaded not guilty to the charge.
Bail was refused and he was remanded to prison by senior Magistrate Leron Daly. The matter was adjourned for April 27, 2018
