GABF National Club Championship bounces off tonight

THE Guyana Amateur Basketball Federation’s (GABF) National Club Championship will ‘tip-off’ tonight, at the Cliff Anderson Sports Hall.

The 12-team tournament will feature four games being played on the opening night, with the first game set to start at 16:00 hrs, between Kobras and Eagles.

Defending Champs Bounty Colts is set to face Linden’s Half Mile Bulls in the second game at 18:00 hours, while last year’s finalist Victory Valley Royals will square-off with Republic Bank Nets at 20:00 hours.

An encounter between Plaisance Guardians and Ravens will bring the first day’s action to a close, when they meet at 22:00 hours.

The team coming out on top will pocket $600 000, second place $400 000 and the team finishing third $300 000.

Participating teams: Group ‘A’ – Colts, Guardians, Bulls, Raiders, Ravens and a side from Berbice.

 Group ‘B’ – Royals, Nets, Kobras, Jets, Eagles and Pacesetters. Only the top two teams from each group will advance.

The Tournament MVP, according to the GABF, will walk away with $200 000.  Other consolation prizes include: the player totalling the most points – $100,000; most rebounds -$100 000; and the most improved player -$100 000.
