Fifty- eight-year-old Rudolph Madray of Spring Garden Village, Essequibo Coast, broke down in tears Tuesday at the Suddie High Court after he was jailed for 35 years for raping a child.

The act was committed on a 10-year-old girl on November,10, 2015. On December, 16, 2015, he was charged for the rape of a child under the age of 16 and on February 26, 2016, he was committed to stand trial in the High Court.

Several witnesses testified in the matter and on Tuesday March 13, he was found guilty of the offence. After a lengthy deliberation, the 12-member jury returned with the guilty verdict and Justice Sandra Kurtzious handed down the sentence.
