A 38-year-old man was taken before a city magistrate Monday on a charge of fraudulent conversion. He is Leron Harris, a taxi driver who resides at Sussex Street, Albouystown.
It is alleged that on February 17, 2018, Harris was entrusted with one gold chain worth $100,000 and one finger ring worth $24,000 which he fraudulently converted to his own use and benefit–all the property of Marshall King.
Harris pleaded not guilty to the charge.
According to the virtual complaint, he went to the home of the accused where he took off the items and gave Harris to keep. But Harris failed to return the items. The matter was reported to the Brickdam Police Station and Harris was arrested and charged.
Bail was granted by Magistrate Judy Latchman in the sum of $100,000 and the matter was adjourned to April 25.
