TWO labourers from Wakenaam Island, Region Three, were on Wednesday sentenced to 18 months imprisonment each for beating a man with a piece of wood. Twenty-one-year-old Asif Mohamed and Ravi Razack were both found guilty of the offence.

Essequibo Magistrate Esther Sam passed the sentence on Wednesday at the Wakenaam Magistrate’s Court. A trial was conducted into the matter and the duo was found guilty of the offence. They were charged in 2017 for the offence which alleged that they feloniously wounded Alex Clementson at Sans Souci.

They were both intoxicated when they used a piece of wood to hit Clementson, causing injuries. They were asked by the magistrate if they had anything to say before being sentenced, but both defendants remained silent.
