THE Guyana Table Tennis Association (GTTA) is set to kick–start its 2018 calendar of activities with the commencement of the National Sports Commission(NSC)-sponsored Mashramani Cadet and Junior Table Tennis championships.
It will take place from the 16th-19th February 2018 at the Cliff Anderson Sports Hall.
The tournament comes on board after a two-year hiatus and is based on discussions with the National Sports Commission through Director of Sports, Christopher Jones.
Jones agreed and saw the need for the reintroduction of the championships, committing his organizations support to providing funding to the key event which formed part of the GTTA’s domestic calendar
Fifteen categories are expected to be in contention along with the Boys’ 18 Yrs and Under Singles; Girls 18 Yrs. and Under Singles; Boys’ 15 Yrs. and Under Singles; Girls’ 15 Yrs.
and Under Singles; Boys’ 13 Yrs. and Under Singles; Girls’ 13 Yrs. and Under Singles; Boys’ 11 Yrs. and Under Singles; Girls’ 11 Yrs. and Under Singles; Boys’ 9 Yrs. and Under Singles; Girls’ 9 Yrs. and Under Singles; Novices Girls Singles and Novices Boys Singles.
There will also be Doubles action in the boys, girls and mixed categories.
Winners, runners-up and semifinalists will be awarded with gold, silver and bronze trophies. Awards will be presented to the 1st, 2nd and 3rd place winners in all events.
