–driver in custody
A FISHERMAN was killed on Thursday night by a drunken driver on the Vergenoegen Public Road, on the East Bank Essequibo (EBE).
Dead is 26-year-old Kevon Boyal, called “Parris”, of Backwater, Tuschen, EBE.
The 35-year-old driver, of Uitvlugt, West Coast Demerara, ran into the fisherman while he was crossing the roadway.

Boyal, a father of one, who was rendered unconscious by the impact, was rushed to the Leonora Cottage Hospital, but was pronounced dead on arrival.
The body is presently at the Ezekiel Funeral Home awaiting a post-mortem, while the driver is in custody, assisting the police with their investigation.
The police said that the car was proceeding east along the northern carriageway when the pedestrian allegedly ran across the road from south to north into the path of the vehicle and sustained severe injuries as a result of the impact. The driver was found to be above the legal alcohol limit.
Kevon’s mother, Judy Boyal, said he was the eldest of six, and was returning home when he met his demise. “He is a very loving and caring son, who would be sadly missed. He can’t be replaced! How can this happen!” she said.
