Two arrested after pastor robbed of $1.8M

THE police have arrested three suspects who last Wednesday allegedly robbed a pastor of $1.8M in cash on Church Street in Georgetown, shortly after he left a city bank.

The victim, Pastor Eldon Anderson, 66, of Haslington, East Coast Demerara, had stepped out of his vehicle to investigate if there was any damage after the vehicle had been struck from the rear by a silver-coloured Spacio.

Two armed occupants of the Spacio then snatched a parcel containing the money, which was inside his vehicle.
However, the vehicle allegedly used, along with a pair of number plates and a part of the stolen cash, has been recovered.

The police said one of the suspects has since confessed to the crime and has also implicated the others, as well as another who is yet to be apprehended as the investigation continues.
