$10M fraud charge dismissed

A 42-year-old businessman had a $10M fraud charge against him dismissed by City Magistrate Leron Daly at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court, on Monday.
Rajesh Sahadeo of Station Street, Kitty, Georgetown, was on trial for obtaining $10M by a Republic Bank cheque from Lloyd Singh, by pretending he knew a woman named Shanean Boston who was in a position to sell a plot of land at Peter’s Hall, East Bank Demerara.
Magistrate Daly dismissed the case on the grounds of insufficient evidence being led by Prosecutor Richard Harris.
The court heard that Singh claimed that Sahadeo brought Boston to him to sell the land but he discovered, after paying $10 million, that the land was not for sale and the land did not belong to her.
