TWO serving members of the Guyana Defence Force (GDF) were Friday charged and remanded to prison for stealing a $17,000 Blu cellphone.
The 20-year-old private officers, Tumulus Richards of Plum Park, Sophia and Clive Seymour of Enmore, East Coast Demerara, appeared before City Magistrate Judy Latchman jointly charged for robbery with violence.
It is alleged that on September 12, 2017, at Timehri, East Bank Demerara, they robbed Keron Wills of a Blu cellphone valued $17,000 with the use of personal violence.
According to reports, on the day in question, Wills was walking through a shortcut in Timehri, when the two accused confronted him. One of the accused reportedly choked him while the other took away the cellphone.
Wills managed to raise an alarm and public-spirited persons managed nab Seymour before he escaped. Magistrate Latchman refused the duo bail and remanded them until September 18.
