A 29-YEAR-OLD fisherman accused of snatching a woman’s handbag was on Monday charged and released on bail.

Arshad Ally of Mon Repos, East Coast Demerara, appeared before City Magistrate Judy Latchman and denied that on August 31,last at Regent and Alexander Streets, Georgetown, he stole a $8,000 handbag along with $7,000 in cash, the property of Nakeita Cole.
According to reports, Cole was in a car at the junction waiting in a line of traffic when the accused came up beside her vehicle, snatched the bag and ran away.
The victim however later saw the accused in another part of Georgetown and pointed him out to police.
The magistrate released Ally on $60,000 bail and adjourned the matter until September 5.
