SOME 115 children from five communities in Bartica, Region Seven have benefited from a one-week youth empowerment programme recently hosted by the police in collaboration with the business community.
The programme was held under the theme “Producing skills through creative initiatives” and featured a mini-exhibition and cultural presentation at the Bartica Community Centre on the works of the children.
Commander of ‘F’ Division, Senior Superintendent Ravindradat Budhram said he will continue to provide a safe environment for youths, have programmes and activities that reduce youth crime and keep them fully engaged.
“Our strategic direction will be about continuing to expand our mission in the area of crime prevention and ensure that getting young people active in life means more than just physical health but also mental health, life skills, cultural development and expanding services to the community by giving youth a place to belong,” the senior superintendent added.
Budhram commended the youth participants for their behaviour and work displayed at the exhibition. He also encouraged them to be disciplined and lead productive lives.
