Murder accused recaptured –after fleeing custody during evacuation

SEAN COLLINS, a murder accused who was on remand at the Georgetown Prison was early Monday morning recaptured by the police, after escaping custody while being transported to another holding facility.

Collins, 20, of Ketley and Drysdale Streets, Charlestown, escaped Sunday night following a massive fire which razed the Lot 12 Camp Street jail.
He was recaptured at about 01:50h on Hadfield Street.

He and his friend, Michael Bishop, who, at 21 was four years his senior at the time, were charged in January 2014 with the murder that same year of 30-year-old Raphael Campbell, a taxi driver of Beterverwagting, East Coast Demerara (ECD).
